A little note on music in the spirit of the Cape Town Jazz Festival week ...
How awesome was it last year to have Tortured Soul adding some real energy first at the Green Market Square then moving the ground (both literally and figuratively) at the Bassline stage in CTICC for the CTJF????...we were all taken to another level of really appreciating live band performance of house music. Monique Bingham and Jazzanova were also in the mix adding a bit of flavour and making us dance to some deep felt soulful beats.
Maybe it's just me but I would not mind seeing more live performances of that nature at the Jazz Fest again...just imagine the audience it would capture year on year end.
Due to my love of deep house music I came across this artist, Osunlade, and immediately fell inlove with his work. By just reading his story and seeing the way he's brought soul life into deep house music made me appreciate him even more. He describes his production as "music that elevates the soul" - Yoruba records (his record label name). Listening to a few of his compilations of soul , hip hop and dance I just had to applaude the amazing work he does. If you love a lil bit of the african beat you'll be sure to enjoy his sweet melodies.
You can listen to one of my favourite mixes by him on http://soundcloud.com/osunlade/a-sheltered-paradise
A great artist of all time..if only the Cape Town Jazz Festival could bring him to perform, I'm sure they'd need to move him from Bassline to Kippies *winks* fo'sho!
check him out on: http://www.osunlade.net/osunlade.net/News.html to have a profound view of who he is and the kind of work he's involved in.
Hope you like him just as much as I do J
